Funding Scheme for Postdoctoral Researchers of Higher Education Institutions
Application Period: from 15th January to 31st March, 2020 

I. Objectives
Serving the MSAR government’s policies on promoting science and technology innovations, enhancing talent training, and fostering cooperation in science and technology innovations in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Science and Technology Development  Fund (hereafter referred to as “FDCT”) devised this Scheme according to Articles 15 and 16 of the Chief Executive’s Dispatch No. 235/2018, “Regulations of Fund Granting”,  published on 3 October 2018, to support local higher education institutions in recruiting outstanding domestic and overseas doctoral graduates in science and technology areas to work as full-time postdoctoral researchers.

 Local higher education institutions.
III. Funding Type
Gratuitous funding.
IV. Funding Quota, Amount and Duration
1.   The Scheme offers 50 funding quotas.
2.   Every eligible full-time postdoctoral researcher is entitled to a monthly payment of MOP40,000 for up to 24 months.
V.  Application Period
The beginning and closing dates of application are defined by the Administrative Committee of FDCT.
VI. Application Requirements
1.   The postdoctoral researcher’s cooperative supervisor must be at the grade of associate professor or above.
2.   The person that the applying entity plans to hire as its postdoctoral researcher must have obtained a doctorate degree in the recent three years, with significant research experience in science and technology, and meet any of the following requirements:
(1)   Obtained a doctorate degree from any of the top 200 universities in the latest global rankings by Times, QS, US News or ARWU;
(2)   Obtained a doctorate degree in any discipline ranked top 100 in the latest global discipline rankings by Times, QS, US News or ARWU;
(3)   Obtained a doctorate degree from any of the universities   (not included in Items (1) and (2)) listed in the Construction Plan for World-Class Universities and the Construction Plan for First-Class Disciplines*註 released by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, or from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and published at least two research papers as the first author in any of the Q1 SCI journals within the doctoral field of specialization concerned;
(4)   Obtained a doctorate degree from any of the higher education institutions (not included in Items (1) and (2)) in any of the nine Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area listed as a key university in the Guangdong High Level University Development Program, or  from any of the higher education institutions in Macao with the Macao Scientific and Technological Research and Development Award for Postgraduates (for PhD students), and published at least two research papers as the first author in any of the Q1 SCI journals within the doctoral field of specialization concerned.
* Note: As to those who graduate from any of the universities only listed in the Construction Plan for First-Class Disciplines, they must have obtained a doctoral degree in any of the first-class disciplines of the corresponding university.
