12 Letters of Intent for Cooperation Signed in Guangzhou for Matching Macao Scientific Research Projects with Mainland Enterprises
23/05/2023
The “Industry-University-Research Collaboration Roadshow and Matching Session between Mainland and Macao” (Matching Session) kicked off today (23 May) in Guangzhou. Under the theme of “Biomedicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine” and such fields as comprehensive health, the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) selected 10 funded scientific research projects which have promising prospects and market potential, also invited the related research teams as well as more than 50 S&T enterprises and venture capital institutions from the Greater Bay Area cities, Shaanxi, Anhui, Hubei and Tianjin for the purpose of business matching.
During the Matching Session, scientific research achievements were introduced and nearly 80 business negotiations were facilitated. Afterwards, both sides generally expressed their interest in further contact and exchanges, organizing the on-site signing of 12 letters of intent for cooperation. Through the “Going Out” strategy for local scientific research achievements, this event has promoted in-depth business matching with the mainland enterprises and social funds to facilitate technology transfer and transformation of scientific research achievements.

Fruitful results yielded in expanding cross-regional matching service for industry-university-research partnership

The Matching Session is jointly organized by FDCT and the China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC). It makes its Guangzhou debut after being held in Macao for the previous two years, aiming to enhance the convenience for the mainland participants, so as to attract more enterprises that have interest in matching with the research achievements in Macao whilst broadening the contacts of the research teams.

This event continues to adopt the pattern of “soliciting proposals in the earlier stage, offline roadshow and matching session in the later stage” which was widely recognized by the participants in the past editions, to improve the matching efficiency. In the earlier stage, FDCT will invite the research teams whose research findings have promising prospects and market potential, and brief the mainland partners on their research findings; then with the help of the mainland partners, FDCT will solicit proposals from innovation entities that have intention for business matching, including enterprises, venture capital institutions, scientific research institutions in the Greater Bay Area cities and the mainland provinces; during the event, the two sides will make further communication and enhance mutual understanding via on-site roadshow and matching session, so as to lay a foundation for the transfer and transformation of achievements.

Brand building to attract social funds to facilitate the transfer and transformation of achievements
Through the matching sessions held in Macao and the mainland cities in succession, FDCT has planned to gradually improve its brand effect which can not only assist in matching the scientific research achievements of Macao with the mainland S&T enterprises and social funds in a targeted and systematic manner, but also boost the mutual cooperation and exchanges, guide social funds to invest in the outstanding scientific research projects of Macao; moreover, it will also create opportunities for research teams to better understand the needs of industries, so that they can properly adjust their research directions, in an effort to develop a more efficient framework to support industry-university-research partnership in the future.
