With support from the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), the smart medical equipment research team of Man Lei Lai (Group) Company Limited has worked hand in hand with the local industry, the academia, research institutes, medical doctors and professors, as well as scholars and experts from Macao higher education institutions in the medical field on the research and development of a series of smart medical equipment projects. These products, including the "Surgery Intelligent Pneumoperitoneum System", the "Electrosurgical Energy Platform", the "Smart Smoke Evacuator", and the "High-Frequency Electrosurgery Integrated Surgery System", are widely used in departments such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, gastrointestinal surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery. Coupled with the comprehensive workstation of electrosurgical smart medical care, the Company has developed a Yi Ling Tong system, which is superbly equipped with a variety of surgical devices and consists of sub-models covering many tissues and indications. Doctors can complete different surgeries on a single piece of equipment. Additionally, live demonstrations of endoscopic surgeries in operating rooms and online surgical teaching and instruction are integrated into one high-end smart medical system. The products have gained recognition and support from industry experts for the convenience and safety provided to doctors during surgeries.
According to Managing Director Man Hou Kong of the Company in charge of the projects, driven by the Macao SAR Government's policy to develop technological research and development and high-end manufacturing industries, the smart medical equipment projects researched and developed have settled in Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley and are promoting the collaborative model of "Research and Development in Macao, and Achievement Transformation in Hengqin" amid the development of the smart medical industries in Macao and Hengqin. The Company has established an R&D, operation, and technological exchange center. Relying on a smart medical equipment production base and GMP (Class 10,000) purification workshops with an ISO 13485 quality management system in place in the Chinese mainland, its products have passed certification of medical equipment registration. Moreover, the products have entered the stage of upgrading and transformation to mass production, and with the help of the Macao SAR Government's industry-university-research partnerships, the scientific innovation and R&D capabilities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have been thereby enhanced.
Not only have the products entered the domestic and foreign markets but they have also been introduced during technological exchanges and promotions in many hospitals. Sales have reached approximately MOP800,000 and are expected to reach MOP2 million to MOP3.5 million (including equipment consumables) according to the annual sales plan. It is believed that with the support of national policies to benefit Macao, such as the Overall Development Plan for the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the "policy on the integrated development of both Hengqin and Macao", and the "measure of using HK registered drugs and medical devices used in HK public hospitals in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", the projects will further give full play to the advantages of Macao and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin as a platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to achieve the interconnected development goal of expanding the high-end comprehensive health care industries in Portuguese-speaking countries, Latin America, and Africa.
