FDCT Launches “Matching Services + Funding” Model Fostering Industry-University-Research Collaboration and Supporting Enterprise Innovation
05/03/2026
The Science and Technology Development Fund (hereinafter referred to as the “FDCT”), in partnership with the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre and the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Macau, held two promotional events on February 25 and March 4, introducing startups, enterprise representatives, and university researchers to its “matching services + funding” model. The goal is to support enterprise innovation and foster industry-academia-research collaboration between enterprises and higher education institutions.

The events attracted over 100 participants from startups, enterprises, and higher education institutions. Through its Online Industry-University-Research Matching Platform, matching services with dedicated follow-up, and relevant funding schemes, the FDCT gave attendees deeper insights into its support measures for enterprise R&D and industry-academia-research collaboration. During the interactive sessions, attendees actively raised questions, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

An enterprise representative noted that the “matching services + funding” model provides enterprises with opportunities for technological innovation. Forming collaborative relationships with university R&D teams facilitates the introduction of technical solutions and mitigates R&D risks. Meanwhile, the funding schemes effectively lower R&D costs for enterprises, enhancing their willingness to collaborate. A university researcher emphasized that this model helps higher education institutions stay attuned to market demands and promotes the transformation and application of scientific research outcomes.

As of February 2026, the Online Industry-University-Research Matching Platform had published 149 corporate technical requirements and successfully facilitated 137 matches between enterprises and university research outcomes, 112 of which applied for funding. These figures demonstrate that the “matching services + funding” model has effectively driven enterprise innovation and advanced industry-academia-research collaboration.
