Jointly organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), the three-session seminar series “New Opportunities in Innovation and Technology in Macao and Hengqin – Career Planning” recently concluded successfully, attracting the participation of over 400 teachers and students from 23 schools.
Held at the Chun Ching Activity Centre, the seminars featured guest speakers including Mr. Che Weng Keong, President of the Administrative Committee of FDCT; Dr. Tong Hoi I, Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Drug Discovery at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Macao Polytechnic University; Dr. Lau King Weng, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau; Mr. Wong Su Chin, Founder and Chairman of Macro Link Century Technology Co., Ltd.; Mr. Loi Chan, Founder and Chairman of Macao Nakin Technology Co., Ltd.; Mr. Lai Chi Kin, Founder and CEO of Gaole Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Sam Pang Kit, Executive Director of Zidian Technology Co., Ltd.
The three seminars included sharing by the above speakers on their personal career journeys and experiences in the technology sector. They also discussed the trends in innovative technology industries, employment prospects, academic disciplines, and more. In addition, the sessions explored the development potential, advantages, and support policies of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. During the seminars, the speakers interacted with students, answering questions on academic paths and career prospects in the technology sector, providing valuable insights for students' future career choices and encouraging them to enhance their competitiveness and prepare themselves for active participation in society.
The attendees of the lecture also included Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, Mr. Chan Iok Wai; Senior Manager of the Project Outcome Transformation and Assistance Division of the Science and Technology Development Fund, Mr. Che Wai Meng; and Director of the Jun Jing Activity Centre, Ms. Loi Mei Tim.
The organisers will continue to host more career planning-related activities to deepen students’ understanding of industry prospects and cultivate their interest in innovation and technology development, thus equipping them for a clearer career path.
