In alignment with the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and other related documents, as well as to fully leverage the scientific, technological, and industrial advantages of Guangdong and Macao, and to advance the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology (GDST) signed the Work Plan of the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology and Macao Science and Technology Development Fund for Joint Funding of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratories on 28 February 2024. Both parties have jointly funded Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratories led by Macao.

Joint Review and Consensus
In accordance with the work plan, both parties jointly organized experts to review valid project applications. This year's joint review meeting was held in Guangzhou on 25 November 2024. FDCT and GDST each invited five experts to attend the meeting, conducting joint evaluations and arranging for the applicant teams to participate in on-site presentations.

Enhancing Scientific Resources and Accelerating Collaborative Development
The joint laboratories led by Macao will integrate national strategies with the technological innovation and socio-economic development needs of the Greater Bay Area. They will focus on key areas and research hotspots of common interest to Guangdong and Macao, conducting applied research in disciplines where Macao has an advantage, tackling critical core technologies, promoting the transfer and transformation of research outcomes, introducing and cultivating talent teams, and engaging in extensive cooperation and exchanges.These laboratories will serve as high-level platforms for scientific and technological innovation. Additionally, they will contribute to expanding Macao's scientific resources, facilitating the commercialization of research outcomes in Hengqin, and promoting the involvement of Macao's technology enterprises. By integrating the strengths of Guangdong and Macao, the joint laboratories aim to achieve collaborative innovation and development, fostering deep integration of industry and research and driving industrial development through innovation.
