Macao Science and Technology Fund Participates in Guangdong-Macao Jointly Funded Project Acceptance Meeting

On November 22, 2024, two Guangdong-Macao jointly funded research projects underwent acceptance review in Dongguan City. The Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) was represented by Administrative Committee member Cheng Kuan Wai, accompanied by project advisor Wang Tinghuai, science advisor Liu Lianggang, and staff. The Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology was represented by Yang Huifang, Director of the Division of Exchange and Cooperation, alongside Mainland experts and staff. Following in-depth discussions and evaluations by all parties, both projects successfully passed the assessment and acceptance process.
Two Guangdong-Macao Jointly Funded Research Projects Pass Assessment and Acceptance
This activity was conducted as part of the joint funding scheme by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund for reviewing the progress of funded projects. The meeting, organized by the Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, was attended by representatives from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, the Guangdong Provincial Center for Promotion of Science and Technology Cooperation Research, the Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, and the Dongguan Electronic Computing Center, as well as nine project evaluation experts.
The two Guangdong provincial and municipal joint projects undergoing acceptance included the "Research and Industrialization of Core Technologies and Algorithms for Industrial Vision in Lithium Battery Manufacturing," led by Professor Gao Jie Xin of the University of Macau and Guangdong OPTE Technology Co., Ltd., and the "Quality Evaluation and Product Development of Cordyceps Militaris (Breeding Products)," led by Professor Zhang Wei of Macau University of Science and Technology and Dongguan Dongyangguang Cordyceps R&D Co., Ltd. At the meeting, both research teams presented their progress reports and engaged in in-depth discussions with the evaluation experts. The evaluation teams assessed and reviewed the R&D content, task objectives, and fund utilization of the projects, ultimately approving both for acceptance.
Guangdong-Macao Joint Research Funding Drives Technology Development in the Greater Bay Area
Since 2019, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund have jointly funded collaborative research projects, addressing the social, economic, and technological innovation needs of Guangdong and Macao. This initiative leverages the complementary strengths of the two regions' scientific research capabilities to promote industry-academia-research collaboration. Over the past few years, under the joint support of both parties, numerous Guangdong-Macao jointly funded research projects have been reviewed, enhancing the scientific research levels of both regions, producing significant and outstanding research achievements, and contributing to the Greater Bay Area's goal of becoming a global hub for scientific and technological innovation.
