[Celebrating the Double Anniversary] "Science and Technology Week" Builds a Platform for Scientific Research Results Transformation and Industry-University-Research Cooperation

Supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and organized by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), the "2024 Science and Technology Week and Innovation and Technology Achievements Exhibition" (Science and Technology Week) was held from October 16 to 19 at the Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Center alongside the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF). This year’s Science and Technology Week continued to promote the "1+4" moderately diversified economic development strategy by showcasing and conducting various supporting activities. The event gathered various entities within the technology innovation chain to drive the development of innovative technology industries, enhance the promotion of technological products, and establish a platform in Macao for transforming scientific research results and fostering industry-university-research cooperation.
Celebrating the Double Anniversary: A 20-Year Retrospective of FDCT
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, and the 20th anniversary of FDCT's establishment. To commemorate this milestone, a special "20th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition Zone" was set up at Science and Technology Week. Through display boards and video presentations, visitors were able to review FDCT's journey over the past two decades since Macao's return and deepen their understanding of FDCT's contributions to the advancement of science and technology in Macao.
Promoting Industry-University-Research and Corporate Collaboration: Signing of 30 Letters of Intent for Cooperation
As a part of Science and Technology Week, the "Mainland-Macao Industry-University-Research Cooperation Roadshow" was held on October 17. Jointly organized by FDCT, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the event adopted a "pre-collection, mid-term online roadshow, on-site negotiations, and post-event follow-up" model. In addition to industry-university-research matching, corporate matching opportunities were also available, fostering both collaborative research partnerships and business opportunities for Macao-based enterprises participating in the event.
FDCT organized 17 scientific research achievements with potential for commercialization, along with five technology companies from Macao, to engage in nearly 160 meetings with over 70 innovation-driven entities from Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan, and Sichuan. Both parties expressed a general willingness for future communication, with 30 letters of intent for cooperation being signed on-site.
Creating Opportunities and Promoting Employment for Technology Talents
To bridge the gap between technology companies and local graduates and young professionals in science and technology fields, and to attract talent to develop in Macao and Hengqin, a "Technology Talent Supply and Demand Meeting" will be held as a supporting event of Science and Technology Week on October 19. Jointly organized by FDCT and the Zhuhai Bureau of Science and Technology Innovation, 23 Macao and Hengqin technology companies will offer 75 job types with a total of 145 positions and internship opportunities. Registration began on September 30, and all university students and young people in Macao are welcome to bring their resumes for on-site meetings and exchanges with companies.
