In order to promote the transformation of Macao’s scientific research achievements and give play to the role of the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Platform, the “Industry-University-Research Collaboration Roadshow and Matchmaking Meeting Between Mainland China and Macao”  and the Technology Roadshow of “Innovation China” - Information Technology (Macao) Special Session were held on October 21 in the “Science and Technology Week 2022 cum Exhibition of Achievements in Science and Technology Innovation” (the Science and Technology Week). Through the two roadshows and matchmaking activities, the transformation of scientific research achievements of Macao’s academic research institutions and scientific innovation enterprises could be facilitated in a diversified way.

Sponsored by the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), the Science and Technology Week was held at the Cotai Expo Hall of the Venetian Macao from October 20 to 22 this year, at which the Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF) was also held.

“Industry-University-Research Collaboration Roadshow and Matchmaking Meeting Between Mainland China and Macao”, jointly organized by the FDCT and the China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC), was held in Macao for the second year. FDCT has organized the 25 Macao’s scientific research projects that have been funded, with achievements that have the prospect of transfer and transformation, to participate in the event. The achievements can be divided into three fields, respectively: “Biomedicine and Chinese Medicine”, “Information, Communication and Integrated Circuits” and “Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection, New Materials and Advanced Manufacturing and Others”.

CSTEC and the Guangdong Research and Promotion Center for Science and Technology Cooperation, the organizer, gathered innovative entities including enterprises, venture capital institutions, incubators, and technology transfer centers from Mainland provinces that have an intention of matching with Macao’s institutions through the information on relevant achievements, and organized them to participate in roadshows and negotiations sessions in Macao.

At the roadshow matchmaking meeting, the scientific research project teams conducted roadshows and meetings to negotiate with more than 60 innovative entities from Guangdong, Shandong, Hainan and other provinces. After more than 140 meetings and negotiations, the two sides generally expressed their interest in further understanding each other, and the signing of letters of intent for cooperation between 32 groups was facilitated on the spot.

“Innovation China” is a brand of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creation of services founded by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). It aims to accelerate the transformation, application and development of scientific and technological achievements and promote the development of regional economy by focusing on multiple forces such as production, education, research, investment, implementation, etc.

FDCT, with the support of CAST, organized the the Technology Roadshow of “Innovation China” - Information Technology (Macao) Special Session for the first time, and jointly co-organized with the Economic and Technology Development Bureau (DSEDT) for the participation of 6 outstanding IT enterprises in Macao, promoted their technology projects through the online platform of “Innovation China” to connect with capitals from the Mainland, thereby extending their contacts to the entire country. This activity is also one of the annual work of the “Science and Technology Exchange and Cooperation Committee between the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government”.

FDCT hopes to facilitate the connection between Macao’s scientific research achievements and Mainland technology companies and capital through various roadshows, so as to enhance mutual understanding and establish connections, lay a foundation for technology transfer and transformation, guiding investment to high-quality scientific research and technology projects in Macao.
