FDCT Discusses TRL-related Cooperation with National Center for Science & Technology Evaluation

To foster the transition of the funded research to midstream and downstream research for technological development and industrialization in support of the SAR government’s policy objectives, FDCT took reference from the experiences of the science and technology departments from mainland China and other countries and planned to introduce Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) in stages as a tool to be used in a project assessment mechanism it will build for holistic management of relevant projects from the stage of applications to corresponding funding schemes, through project execution to their closing and conversion of their results.
 
Considering that the National Center for Science & Technology Evaluation is an authoritative S&T project assessment institution, FDCT visited the Center on 30th March this year in Zhuhai to discuss their cooperation in such respects as launching TRL assessment training and establishing an assessment mechanism for Macao’s projects. The parties confirmed that the training would take place in stages and reached a preliminary consensus on further deepening their collaboration in various aspects. Participants of the discussion included Han Jun, Deputy Chief Appraiser of the Center, Zhang Chunpeng, Head of the Department for Scientific and Technological Achievement and Technology Evaluation under the Center, Zhang Jingyuan, Appraising Officer of the Center, Ip Kuai Lam, member of FDCT’s Administrative Committee, Chan Kong On, Senior Manager of the Science and Technology Development and Cooperation Department of FDCT and Lam Chan Seng, Senior Technician of FDCT.
