The award ceremony of the ‘2020 Macao Science Popularization Short Video Competition’, hosted by the Science and Technology Development Fund and undertaken by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), took place on 7^th November. The winning works have been screened on various public platforms for science popularization.
    The competition, which aims at promoting the scientific spirit and popularizing scientific knowledge, selected excellent entries that artistically present rich scientific knowledge in a plain language for public screening to bring science closer to the general public. The event was enthusiastically received, as the organizer received a total of 71 works for the category of primary and secondary schools and the open category.
    To ensure the professionalism and fairness of the selection process, several experts from the science and technology industry were invited to carry out the work as the judges. They were Hong Cheong Hin, President of Macao Education Development Research Association; Leong Si Chong, Director of the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau; Lam Tou, CPTTM’s Senior Manager; Chui Tak Ming, member of CPTTM’s Industry Diversification Committee and Ho Kai Chi, FDCT’s representative. The winning videos in all categories are listed as follows: n the category of primary and secondary schools, the champion is ‘Do you really know about land reclamation?’ from the team of Fong Chi Hoi, Ng Chi Tong, Lei Hon Pok, Lei Hon Bok and Lam Chon Kam; the 1^st runner-up is ‘5G Shapes a New Digital Era’ from the team of Lei Ka Kei, Chan Nga Teng, Lam Ka U, Lei Weng Lam, Chan Hoi Lam and Iao Chi I; the 2^nd runner-up is ‘The Truth about Surgery Gowns’ from the team of Choi I Teng, Si Ieng Hei, Hong Peng Ian and Au Hoi Ian. Besides, five Merit Awards were presented in this category. In the open category, the champion is ‘Toward a Storm-proof City’ from the team of Lei San Lam, Choi Tak Lok, Choi Kin Long; the 1^st runner-up is ‘Knowledge about Pandemic Prevention with Face Mask’ from Mou Ka Lei and Kuan In Leng; the 2^nd runner-up is ‘Mystery of Colour’ by Chan Ka Man, Chong I Leng, Leong Chan Wa and Ieong Meng Ip. Three Merit Awards were presented in this category.
    The video submissions cover a variety of topics, ranging from smart city development, disaster prevention and mitigation, 5G technology development to science trivia, interesting experiments and the like, which are good for science popularization and application.
