Successfully-Concluded Science and Technology Week Boosts High-Tech Industry Development as Platform for Transformation of Achievements and Industry-University-Research Partnerships

Supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, the Science and Technology Week 2023 cum Exhibition of Achievements in Science and Technology Innovation (Science and Technology Week) which was hosted by the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and staged for four days, concluded successfully today (22 October). Again, this event was held in parallel with the Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF) at the same venue in order to achieve effective utilization of resources, leverage synergistic effect, and facilitate industry-university-research collaboration.
In line with the “1+4” appropriately diversified development strategy of the Macao SAR government, this year’s Science and Technology Week brings together different entities in the S&T innovation chain in neighboring regions such as Macao and Hengqin to promote the development of S&T innovation industry, whilst strengthening the S&T cooperation between Macao and Hengqin as well as enhancing their joint investment promotion. It also assists technology enterprises in promoting and building a platform for the transformation of scientific research achievements and industry-university-research collaboration in Macao through the Exhibition and a series of supporting activities.
Over 70 letters of intent for cooperation signed during effective supporting activities

During the Science and Technology Week, a number of supporting activities were launched to enhance the effectiveness of the Exhibition, such as the “Industry-University-Research Collaboration Roadshow and Matchmaking Meeting Between Mainland China and Macao”, which showcased 26 scientific research achievements and organized 25 technology enterprises in Macao. Approximately 320 matching sessions were held between Macao enterprises and nearly 70 innovation entities coming from the mainland. Besides, more than 70 letters of intent for cooperation were signed on site. To achieve the Macao-Hengqin joint investment invitation and facilitate the development of local S&T innovation industry, the introduction sessions of the Macao-Hengqin investment environment and relevant policy support as well as business matching sessions for enterprises were newly added.
At the “China Innovation” Technology Roadshow – Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Big Health (Macao and Hengqin) Special Session, 6 outstanding enterprises engaged in traditional Chinese medicine and big health in Macao and Hengqin were invited to promote their technology projects nationwide through the “China Innovation” online platform, thus creating opportunities for the connection with the mainland capital.
The Scientific Research Projects Result Exhibition and Academic Report in Year of 2022 showcased the research findings of closed projects funded by FDCT to the public, and also provided an opportunity for researchers to exchange their views and further understand the cutting-edge scientific research strengths in Macao.
During this grand event, FDCT supported technology entities to hold product launch conferences and signing ceremonies for two scientific research products, as well as four themed forums, bringing together delegates from government, industry, and academia to discuss topics such as cybersecurity, big health medical tourism, large AI models, and the Greater Bay Area certification.
