In order to provide enterprises with an in-depth understanding of the application requirements and assessment criteria related to this Funding Scheme, and assist them in the preparatory work for research projects proposed, FDCT held the “Explanation Session on Funding Scheme for Enterprise Innovation and R&D” on 22 August at the Lotus Room of the World Trade Center Macau, attended by approximately 70 enterprise delegates.

The President of FDCT Administrative Committee Che Weng Keong said in his speech that technological innovation is a vital element in achieving the “1+4” appropriately diversified development of Macao’s economy. Through policy guidance, the SAR government has been gradually creating an enterprise-based and market-oriented technological innovation system, featuring a deep integration of industry-university-research partnership. Whilst encouraging financial institutions and social capital to invest in the technology industry, Macao has endeavored to support Macao enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness by technological means. In recent years, the SAR government has introduced a wide range of policy measures to support the development of key industries, such as the Tax Preference System for Enterprises Engaged in Scientific and Technological Innovation Activities, the Technology Enterprises Certification Program, and the Legal Regime for Talent Introduction. In line with the SAR government’s policy address, FDCT has established technological innovation funding systems targeting enterprises and universities respectively. Particularly, the “Funding Scheme for Enterprise Innovation and R&D” properly meet the needs of enterprises in different stages of project R&D. FDCT sincerely hopes that the Explanation Session will help the relevant sectors better understand this Funding Scheme. Besides, the participants are welcomed to actively exchange their views to help FDCT improve its service.

Later in the session, the FDCT staff introduced the relevant scheme and details for application, and also explained the common issues that may occur during the application and approval process, as well as the points to note for application; S&T consultant Liu Lianggang and Project Advisory Committee members Chan Wai Kin and Song Jingyan explained the assessment criteria and provided suggestions on how to prepare a high-quality application proposal.
