Before a typhoon

1. Keep abreast of the typhoon information via TV, internet, mobile APP and other channels. Proper precautions should be taken.

2. Check the stability of doors and windows before a typhoon. Ask for professional personnel to check and maintain them. People living in dilapidated buildings should immediately move away and head for shelter.

3. Check and clear the drains carefully.

4. Check items on balconies such as flowerpots, clothes, air conditioners, canopies and rooftop items, securely fasten them or move them to safe places.

5. Prepare candles, flashlights and commonly-used drugs. Store up appropriate amount of potable water and food.

6. Check gas tubing and electric wiring. Beware of fire source.

7. Close doors and windows tightly, attach duct tape in a star shape across the window glass to prevent them from shattering.

8. Living in low-lying areas, furniture such as cabinets and beds should be raised before leaving. Place electrical appliances and non-waterproof belongings on higher locations. In the event of water penetration, switch off the power supply immediately to avoid the risk of electric shock.
