Attending the Forum on Region-city Coordination of the Guangdong-Macao Joint Funding Project for Science and Technology Innovation

On the afternoon of 18th May, 2021, member of the Administrative Committee of the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) Ip Kuai Lam and the Senior Manager Chan Kong On attended the Forum on Region-city Coordination of the Guangdong-Macao Joint Funding Project for Science and Technology Innovation. The Forum was presided by Deputy Director General of the Guangdong Science and Technology Department and Director of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) Lao Zhihong, and was attended by Level 2 Inspector of the Guangdong Science and Technology Department He Dihua, Deputy Director of Foshan Science and Technology Bureau Liang Daming, Deputy Director of Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau Zhong Jingping, member of Jiangmen Science and Technology Bureau Dong Yinghu as well as leaders of the science and technology departments in other pilot cities.
The Forum discussed the 2021-2022 Work Plan of the Guangdong-Macao Joint Funding Project for Science and Technology Innovation (discussion draft), which is mainly focused on the research of the mechanism and practice for adding region-city coordination and funding to the framework of the Guangdong-Macao Joint Funding Project for Science and Technology Innovation. Participants of the forum also successfully reached consensus on various aspects including the positioning, mode, project management and joint vetting of pilot cities participating in joint funding projects.
Through this innovative mechanism, FDCT hopes to encourage universities and enterprises in Macao to enhance cooperation with Mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so that Macao’s scientific research teams may accumulate experiences in cooperation with industry, and academic and research institutes.
